Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's old house in New Orleans just got a new owner for a whopping $2.8 million. The big French Quarter home, spanning 7,703 square feet, was up for grabs at an auction in December. Believe it or not, 12 eager bidders went head-to-head, and the final price stopped just shy of $3 million. The whole thing kicked off with a starting bid of a cool $1 million.
Scott Kirk, the big boss at Interluxe Auctions, spilled the beans to FOX Business. He said, "The property bagged $2,800,000 at auction. It was on the market for $3.25 million before Interluxe stepped in, making it an 86% list/sell ratio." Kirk proudly added that this sale set a record for the highest price tag on a single-family home in the French Quarter in more than a year.
This grand old house dates back to the 1830s and used to belong to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. With seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two half-baths, it's got plenty of room. Fancy features include a majestic spiral staircase, shiny hardwood floors, and fancy marble mantles. But wait, there's more – a chef's kitchen, an elevator, a home gym, a workshop, and an outdoor pool with a fountain. There's even a three-story guest house and a gated driveway lit up with gas lamps.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt snagged this beauty in 2006, but after their divorce in 2016, it was time to let it go. During their 10-year reign over the mansion, it played home base for their Make It Right Foundation efforts, helping out after Hurricane Katrina.
